Please join me and my family on the lovely beaches of Santa Teresa/Malpais Costa Rica, April 5th - 12th for a week long Ashtanga Yoga intensive. During this week we will be having daily practice, augmented by sitting meditation, pranayama and chanting. There will be afternoon workshops designed to deepen your understanding of the practice of Ashtanga Yoga - exploring alignment in postures, philosophy and well, MORE CHANTING! We will explore silence and commune with nature, eat together and play together. There will be time to connect and time to do your own thing.
Santa Teresa is a world class surfing destination, and the sunsets are amazing. The community is a mix of Europeans, Canadians, Americans and Costa Ricans. The town is simple - one road - filled with lovely little restaurants and stores. If you seek more adventure we can arrange for you to canopy over the jungle, rent bikes or quads, ride horses on the beach, etc....If you dont want adventure, there is ample opportunity to CHILL.
I have spent a lot of time organizing the event, and have found accommodations from rustic beach cabinas, to luxurious bungalows. Singles range from $1160 to $2100 per person and if you have a roommate or partner doubles begin at $1060 and go up to $2640 at a 5 star hotel.
It is my vision to work with each guest individually to find the right accommodation that suits your needs and budget. A deposit of $400 holds your space in the workshop. The remainder is due in full no later than March 15th.
All accommodations include daily breakfast, and our opening dinner, all yoga classes and your room for the week, as well as transportation to and from the Tambor airport.
You are responsible for your transportation to Costa Rica. Currently, there are round trip tickets to San Jose from Los Angeles from as low as $300!!!! You also need to get from San Jose to Tambor and there are a variety of ways to do this, the easiest and quickest way is to fly. We are buying our tickets this week and i encourage you to reserve your tickets and spots early.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. There are already several spots taken and there has been a lot of interest in the trip. I am THRILLED to be able to offer this to you. I have been to Costa Rica 10 times and love sharing this beautiful country with new friends.
Jodi Blumstein has been practicing ashtanga yoga for 13 years. From 1999 to 2005 she was the director of Priya Yoga -the first ashtanga/vinyasa yoga school in Chicago. Jodi sees the practice as a highly transformative experience; it is physical exercise to keep the body clean, it is mental exercise to keep the mind sharp; and it is a tool for waking up to who we truly are, beyond name and form. Jodi has the unique ability to work with students of all levels, ages, and physical ability and to guide them towards establishing consistent, daily practice to improve health on all levels. She encourages students to explore the unknown both on and off the mat and not to take anything too seriously. Currently, Jodi is living in Los Angeles and exploring her personal practice. She teaches the mysore program for Yoga Works at the Center for Yoga near Hollywood, sees private yoga sessions, prepares gourmet raw foods for friends, and spends time with her daughter, Bella. She also leads workshops and retreats around the US, Central America and Canada.
